Emperor Ahmad Shah ruled over the Mughal Empire from 1748 to 1754, a time when rampant decentralization had set in the realm. The distant provinces such as Bengal and Deccan asserted an almost independent will. Around this time, the Afghans, Marathas, Jats, Sikhs, and Europeans began making inroads into the Mughal Empire. He was deposed by his Wazir, Imad-ul-Mulk, in 1754.
