List of Mughal Successor States

    

At the beginning of the 18th century, the Mughal Empire began to decline. Shortly afterward, a number of regional centers of power emerged, and rampant decentralization set in. By the end of the same century, the empire had been reduced to just the Red Fort of Delhi, though since only a few such powers had assumed direct independence, the empire still legally held sway over most of the subcontinent! 

Below is a list of some of the states that succeeded the Mughal Empire in its waning days:
